Seminal punk
outfit THE FALL are set to play Dublin next month, when they’ll bring their cacophonous
genius to THE BUTTON FACTORY on Thursday 19th July.
The prolific
post-punk legends are touring their 29th studio album "Ersatz
G.B."
As with any
Fall record, it retains their most distinctive elements of jumbled guitars teamed
with Mark E Smith’s sing-speak vocals, whilst offering a fresh take on Smith’s
familiar style and subject matter.
The Fall
have gone through myriad line-up changes and shifts in musical style over the
years. Next month will see the current line-up of Smith (vox), David Spurr
(bass), Elini Poulou (keys), Pete Greenway (guitar) and Kierion Mellings
(drums) take to the Button Factory stage.

“ERSATZ
G.B” – 29TH STUDIO ALBUM FROM THE LEGENDARY THE FALL
Since their
formation in 1976, The Fall have released twenty eight studio albums, and more
than double that number of live albums, compilations and other packages.
"Ersatz G.B." is their 29th offering, and, as with any Fall record,
retains many of their most distinctive elements whilst offering a fresh take on
Mark E Smith’s familiar style and subject matter. The current line-up of Smith
(vox), David Spurr (bass), Elini Poulou (keys), Pete Greenway (guitar) and
Kierion Mellings (drums) are now relatively established by Fall standards, and
deliver another intriguing addition to the band’s body of work here. This album
contains all the trademarks of a great Fall album.
"As
is customary with The Fall, Ersatz G.B. offers no easy explanations, but
instead twists and excites the listener’s brain with unexpected phantom
bewilderments.” -Ian Harrison (MOJO – December 2011)
