“On course towards future raucous, beer-soaked headline festival sets.” NME

“Screw-you power relentless motorik rhythms and impressively large choruses.” Guardian

"The Dublin gang neatly package existential panic into a buzzy, punchy musical box” DIY

Sprints today share new single Adore Adore Adore, out now on City Slang. The band also confirm details of their biggest headline shows to date, including an Autumn show at London's Scala. Sprints are set to dominate the festival landscape this Summer, bringing their own brand of charisma-laden punk to stages around Europe. Despite being pre-debut album, Sprints have received a wealth of press support (The Guardian, Dork, DIY, NME, Loud & Quiet, Clash, Gigwise and others). They've also won an abundance of support at Radio 1 and BBC 6Music as well as earning a reputation as one of the most incisive and exciting live bands around. Adore Adore Adore finds Karla Chubb reflecting on her experience as the frontperson of Sprints; a woman fronting a punk band being held to patriarchal standards of acceptability.

On the new single, Karla Chubb, Sprints' lead vocalist, says

"There is still a different standard of behaviour expected from me vs even the other members in Sprints. There is a different set of invisible rules I am supposed to abide by - I am supposed to fit their mould and give them what they want - and not deliver what it is I am here to do.

So at a time when trans rights are under attack, people are trying to force upon us what they think a woman is or should be, this is the outward expression of my own frustration, struggle and rage."

Formed in 2019 when Karla, guitarist Colm O’Reilly and drummer Jack Callan - already playing together under a slowly-dwindling former guise - had the lightbulb moment at a Savages gig that they too could play the music they actually listened to and loved, Sprints have barely paused for breath since. Recruiting bassist Sam McCann, for their first show back in February of that year, the difference from day one was tangible. “Our only ethos in music is to write something that matters and that means something,” says Karla. “It’s all about expressing our identities, and injecting our personalities into it.”
